Design Engineering

The San Francisco Compute Company is hiring for a design engineering role. This role works on frontend apps and command-lines involved in creating the best possible experience for folks training large AI models. The stack is Typescript, Nextjs, Tailwind, Figma, love and polish.

About working with us

As the name implies, we mostly work in San Francisco. Our office is in Hayes Valley. Many of our customers are physically nearby, in that you can literally walk down the street to meet them.

We probably don't need to say it, but the problems are interesting. We make supercomputers, not SaaS.

Working at San Francisco Compute means helping hundreds of university labs, focused-research organizations, startups and tinkerers get access to ultra powerful machines. This is their biggest bottleneck and we think it's the highest possible leverage you can have as a software engineer to materially push scientific progress forward.

About you

You're an engineer with a strong design sense. You've built a lot of things on your own where you owned the whole thing. They look good and they work well. You like to polish. You care about all the little details and just making things "feel nice".

Machine learning experience is a reasonable bonus, but not required. It's great if you're familiar with PyTorch.

If this sounds like you, please reach out to evan@sfcompute.com, and if possible, include previous things you've built that you're proud of.
